Early Japan Putz / Belsnickle-style Santa figure c.1930s, featuring a molded clay (or papier-mâché) face, felt coat, chenille trim, and pipe-cleaner legs and candle. Classic pre-war construction with cardboard armature under the suit and original round cardboard base with partial “Japan" sticker still attached. Hand-painted facial details with expressive blue eyes, curled hat tip, and tiny foil flame on candle. A wonderful example of early Japan Christmas décor made for feather tree displays and putz villages.
